The Starcraft 2 Collector’s Edition — Review
If you choose to buy Starcraft 2, however, you may want to decide beforehand which edition of the game you will buy.
Starcraft 2 currently comes in both a standard and a collector’s edition. The collector’s edition generally costs about $60 more than the standard edition. Is it worth it? Let’s take a look.
The Starcraft II Collector’s Edition itself is very impressive, and includes:
- The full version of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty game on DVD-ROM.
- A full-color, 176-page art book. Here you’ll get to see glossy pictures of all of the characters, technology and environments that you will experience in the game.
- You’ll also receive a limited edition prequel comic book to the upcoming Starcraft comic series, too.
- There’s also a behind-the-scenes DVD that will take you inside the development of Starcraft 2.
- For your listening pleasure, there’s a soundtrack CD with the full 14-track from the game included.
- There’s also a 2GB USB flash drive that is a visual replica of hero Jim Raynor’s dog tags. In the flash drive you will find both the original Starcraft game, as well as the Brood War expansion.
- World of Warcraft players will be happy to know that they’ll get an in-game Thor pet that can be used by all WoW characters on the buyer’s Battle.net account.
- Finally, there’s other Battle.net content included as well, such as special profile pictures, decals that you can use on your in-game units, and two guest passes for your friends to play Starcraft and World of Warcraft.
(This limited edition collector’s set has been specially created to commemorate the premiere of Starcraft 2. Order now while still in stock!)

Customer’s Reviews…
I played the beta, pre-ordered the game, and have been playing it non-stop since release.
In short, this is my game of 2010, and probably the best game I’ve played in the last few years.
The single player campaign is well-crafted, with every single map introducing a new unit type and very unique objectives. It’s slick, polished, compelling, and offers tons of replay value with a nice set of mission-specific achievements.
The multiplayer is deep, addictive, and nuanced, and includes an excellent league system that makes every match you play relevant and exciting.
I have had absolutely zero technical problems, and the game looks great and runs great across the board.
This is one of about four games I’ve ever played that I would give a perfect rating. I’m looking forward to the second game in the trilogy and I’m certain I’ll still be playing the multiplayer when it’s finally released.
